Here's a Uverse Review from an actual customer
After considerable years with Comcast and 4 with Roadrunner, we decided it was time to give something new a try. I was tired of consistently paying more dough for less with cable and wanted to examine other options. Cable definitely isn’t excelling when it comes to HD channels. I skipped Satellite and decided to try out theAT&T U-verse.
My service was set up ok and initially, I couldn’t have been more pleased. The only problem at that point was that sales sold me sports channels that never had sports. They were all blacked out. Lo and behold this isn't a chance occurence.
Everything was fine for a couple of months, I had great service and new channels and features added monthly. The we got DVR. I had an issue with a tv & the dvr. I waited a while to call customer support. And when I did, all hell broke lose.
After 143 minutes on the horn with customer support, I had restarted and updated all receives and our home gateway more than once. After this, my service was sketchy and constantly dropping. He then made an time for a few days later with a technician. The repairman arrived and detected numerous problems which he mended. I was skeptical that everything was fixed for all intents and purposes but happy that I had my service back.
That very same night, I returned home from work to find my Television was not working. Naturally I was upset and made another call to tech support. This time the call was fast. We made another appointment for service. They issued a truck for the next day. I was shocked that I was able to get a tech out so fast. The quickest Comcast could ever get a tech out was more than 4 days.
The tech came out and found that I had not signal. He called for another line specialist that found the VRAD in my area had gone out. He informed me that it would be another 2 days before it could be changed. So I patiently waited. A few days later I called and found out that the VRAD was switched and I still didn’t have any service. Yet another technician was scheduled for the next day.
The 8th day of the outage arrived and I was starting to search for a new servicer. I figured if 3 of technicians couldn’t get this system up and running, then it was time to cancel. The very last technician who came out & called a line tech and waited. While he was waiting, he examined my entire in-home network, replaced any cable and jacks and fixed a a whole lot of of other things.
The final crew of guys were able to fix all the problems. Turns out I had a variety of issues including bad wires. My service works better than ever now and my Internet is totally faster. In addition, I received a month of credit for dealing with the issues.
Obviously, I was upset for the week I didn’t have any service. However, in the end I was pleased with the fast response and one day turn around to have a technician out to my house. Since all the issues occured, my Uverse has worked flawlessly. Overall, I am pleased with ATT Uverse from price, to the experience, to internet service. I would totally recommend the service. When compared against cable service, they provide greater value for the money.
If you order the service, here are a few things to note:
* Ask your installer to check signal on every TV in your house before leaving. It might not bad idea to restart the gateway before the tech leaves to make sure it syncs back up correctly.
*Make sure that your DVR functions everywhere
* Head to any news channel and make sure there's no stuttering
